A. Mortgage Insurance allows borrowers to buy their homes with a smaller deposit than would normally be required. Mortgage Insurance covers a lender in the event of a borrower defaulting on their loan. This type of insurance does not protect the borrower and should not be confused with Mortgage Protection Insurance.
A. There is no right answer to this question. Historically, a basic variable rate loan has been the best option but with suggestions of rate rises in the future, a mixture of fixed and variable may suit your needs.
